1850 Map of Northeastern Kentucky

This 1850 map shows the northeastern Kentucky. Morehead does not yet exist but the town of Triplet located on the old Midland Trail (blue line) is where the current city of Morehead is now located. Only two roads enter the town of Triplet, the Midland Trail, and a road connecting Triplet to Flemingsburg. Rowan County would be formed six years later from Fleming and Morgan Counties. Olympian Springs to the west of Triplet in Bath County on the Midland Trail was a spa town noted for its hot springs and its "cures." To the east of Triplet, Olive Hill is not noted.
