1929 Official Kentucky Road Map

This official 1929 Road Map of Kentucky shows that travel through Rowan County held many surprises. According to the Legend on top of the map, U.S. 60 (the Midland Trail) was a gravel road east of Morehead toward Olive Hill. West of Morehead, U.S. 60 had a "hard surface" as far as Farmers where it again became a gravel road. Kentucky 32 toward Flemingsburg was rated as "unimproved or poor surfacing" roadway. Kentucky 32 towards Elliot County was a "road under construction." This map does show the various county roads but they were probably in no better shape.
